The Lord of the Rings: The Complete Series

LOTR: The Complete Series reimagines Peter Jackson's iconic film adaptation of Tolkien's epic story as a twelve part television series. We set out to use the massive canvas that the film trilogy offered us to forge a single narrative thread, with each part's roughly 45 minutes centering on a single character, arc or theme. Where an epic feature film has something of an obligation to cross cut among its diverging storylines, we used the smaller canvas of the television episode as an opportunity to maintain a continuity of focus, and to give beloved characters like Boromir, Theoden, and Pippin room to shine in their own dedicated episodes. Our aim in this project is to highlight character, to ground perspective in a moment to moment approach, and to provide an alternative version of this cinematic masterpiece that feels simultaneously expansive and easily approachable. We hope our edit will allow you to dive back into the familiar world and characters of Middle Earth and to see them in an exciting new light.
